Classical Clairvoyance

A la Sunday football pre-game shows, we gathered the Tators to find out what books they think are going to win for July's book poll. The category is traditional, which for our criteria means prior to 1910.

The choices are:
The Scarlet Letter
The Phantom of the Opera
Thérèse Raquin
The Red Badge of Courage
The Island of Dr. Moreau

Here's our Tators' weigh ins:

Angie: The Scarlet Letter

Laura: The Phantom of the Opera

Jeane: The Phantom of the Opera

Karena: The Phantom of the Opera

Jared: The Scarlet Letter

Who do you think is going to make the cut? Add your guess, then go vote!

Unlike the last poll, I would be fine with any of these novels. "Thérèse Raquin" is less appealing to me than the others, but would be okay. I have read "The Scarlet Letter" so will vote for something else. Rereading it will be fine should it win; I read it 30+ years ago.

"Phantom" is less appealing only because I have seen the movie (in a chapel accompanied by an organ no less) and the Broadway show.

That leaves "The Red Badge of Courage" and
"The Island of Dr. Moreau". Either will be fine with me.

I agree 'The Phantom of the Opera' or 'The Scarlet Letter' will probably win. Personally I'll be voting for 'The Island of Dr. Moreau' though as I already own a copy.

Much happier with that set of choices than the July ones though (and yes I know it's all random selection, but the number generator did well this time).

I only know The Scarlet Letter and The Phantom. And I haven't read any of the books. Voting for The Red Badge of Courage for no other reason than I like the name!
